Vacuuming picks up dry dust. Extraction goes further: cleaning solution is worked into the carpet to loosen oils, tracked-in soil and sticky residue, and then the machine suctions that solution back out, carrying the dirt with it. The result is carpet that is cleaner deeper in the pile, not just brighter on top.
The hose is what makes the method practical in a real building. Along with the main machine, we use a hose and hand tool for stairs, corners, baseboards and the spots a wide wand cannot reach, which is where much of the grime in a commercial space hides.
The area to clean is the base, followed by how soiled the carpet is, whether pre-treatment of stains is needed, stairs or other hand-tool areas, furniture that has to be moved and the time slot. Carpet that has had regular maintenance extracts more easily and costs less than carpet that has been neglected for years.
Extraction is one of the services G.H. Cleaning Services, LLC runs with its own equipment and its own crew, so the person who quotes the job is the one who answers for the result. For how we plan carpet work around your hours, see commercial carpet cleaning.
Most extraction jobs are in Bridgeport and nearby towns such as Stratford. See all service areas.
This is called wicking. Soil and residue from deep in the carpet can travel up the fibers as the carpet dries and reappear on the surface. A second pass or a rinse usually fixes it, and it is more likely when carpet was heavily soiled to begin with.
It suits most commercial carpet that is built to be cleaned with water-based methods, but not all. Delicate or specialty carpets, and carpet with a damaged backing, need a different approach. We check the carpet before we commit to a method.
If the smell comes from soil and spills held in the carpet, extraction often helps because it pulls that material out. If the source is in the padding or the floor beneath, cleaning the surface alone may not solve it, and we will tell you if we suspect that.
Yes. The hose and hand tool let us clean along baseboards, around furniture legs, on stairs and in tight corners where a large machine cannot reach.
Over-wetting leaves carpet damp for too long, which can cause odors and slow drying. Controlling how much solution goes in and how much gets pulled back out is the main skill in extraction cleaning.
